This painting was created from my memory of the day I met Australian Actor Susie Porter. Susie had arrived early on set with her husband to see the progress. I have painted a memory of that moment because she was such a delight to meet. Effervescent with that shining star quality that naturally oozes out of smoe actors and so energised bounding in from the wet muddy camp site. Together they greeted us all – the background extras. The movie was being filmed in the Mt Tambourine hinterland under the canopy of rainforests, to remediate the tropical forests of the Pacific – for the setting of the movie – “Sisters of War” a World War II movie based on a true story of Australian nurses who survived as prisoners of war during the Japanese occupation of some Pacific Islands.
